|
|
I have a lovely ten year old tabby cat who is housebound (and always has been). Recently, he has started pooing on the floor next to his litter tray, although he does pee in it with no problems. I've no idea why he does this and have tried everything I can think of, including changing the litter type used and not using a bag to line the tray.
Does anyone have any idea why he is doing this and how I can stop him? I'm at my wits end! |

I understand your frusteration, I have a cat who has been doing this ever since he was a kitten! Every day there is a "gift" beside the litter pan!!
My vet had many suggestions for me but none have worked! I ll pass them on and hopefully one may work for you.
1-Place his food dish where he poops on the floor, move the litter over a ways and see if that helps,
2- Place litter box in the spot that he poops, (even if its in the middle of the floor) if the cat uses it, slowly start moving it back to where it was
3- Clean the litter after EVERY use, some cats are just super picky and want it to be clean
Try these and if nothing call your vet, it may be a behavioral issue, and please NEVER gt upset with the cat, it will just start hiding to poop!
Good luck |
